The interactive concrete tile - 1. prize at the inventor and idea competition.

With worlds first interactive and intelligent concrete tile, the concrete tile has become more than just a tile. Danish inventor Lars Nørgaard Bjørn has for the first time made a concrete tile interactive and independent from electrical cables. A unique energysource makes that the tile work, from the moment it has been laid in the ground. The tiles have installed an advanced - and still inexpensive - wireless electronic and software. They can work as information- and safetytiles for pedestrians like on railway platforms. With red and green light, the tiles can inform about trains, as well as the tiles can be used in the city as informationtiles, as guidinglights in the night or emergency-lighting.

Lars Nørgaard Bjørn has developed the interactive tile in cooperation with SEDES A/S and DSB Arkitekterne.

Cooperation with DSB (The Danish Natoional Rail Authority) - unique tactile paving for the blind and visually impared.

In fall 2005 the last tests were succesfully finished and proofed by DSB (operation) and the blind and visually impared (users). DSB´s, Banedanmark´s og DSB S-tog´s tactile paving -concept "Intactila" is the result of a developing-project financed by the ministry of transportation. The developing-project was carried out in 2004, with DSB as project-coordinator, in cooperation with the traffic control department, Banedanmark, DSB S-tog, the Danish Blind´s organization and the Danish Center for Accesibility. Aim of this project was to establish a standard in design and a standard for the exterior tactile paving on all stations cross the ownerships (Banedanmark and DSB).
